Alberto Fernandez
Argentinean President Alberto Fernandez explained criticism of the Russian coronavirus vaccine. One of the reasons for the pressure is the geopolitical struggle, he said in an interview with TV Publica.
“We must take into account the unfolding trade war. In addition, as the world longs for the vaccine, there is a geopolitical struggle to be the one who will provide it. As it seems to me, this is exactly what we are seeing in the case of the Russian vaccine, ”TASS quotes Fernandez.
The politician added that the production of the drug is a business where deals are made for millions of dollars. A tough and sometimes even dirty struggle is going on over these deals, he admitted. In response to criticism, the Argentine president said that while the authorities of different countries are trying to find at least some amount of the drug, Buenos Aires and Moscow have agreed to supply 300 thousand doses.
Sputnik V vaccination in Argentina began on December 29th. Local authorities registered the Russian vaccine on December 23. Prior to that, Buenos Aires signed a contract for the supply of ten million doses of the Russian drug. Fernandez noted that he would be the first to be vaccinated with the Russian vaccine and did not doubt the quality of the drug.
