In Argentina, intelligence has exposed the activities of a Russian spy network that was acting in support of Moscow's interests and trying to influence public opinion in the country.

This was reported by La Derecha Diario.

An investigation by Argentina's State Intelligence Secretariat has established the existence of a foreign influence network that included Russian citizens living in the South American country, in collusion with local residents.

The report says the exposed individuals had ties to the Kremlin's geopolitical plans and conducted information operations to disinformation and manipulation.

The investigation found that the spy network was linked to a structure called La Compañía, which is linked to the late Wagner PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin and the so-called Lakhta Project. The operation encompasses a broad spectrum of information warfare targeting audiences in the United States, the European Union and Ukraine.

The alleged leader of this group in Argentina is considered to be Russian citizen Lev Andriashvili, who acted together with his wife Irina Yakovenko. Both were responsible for the material support of the network, as well as for establishing connections with Argentine activists.

“The goal of La Compañía is to form a group of individuals loyal to Russia’s interests,” the statement said.

Among the main tasks of this structure are: dissemination of disinformation, collection of sensitive political information and influence on local foundations, non-governmental initiatives and public associations.

Let us recall that in early June, a spy officer of the Federal Intelligence Service was exposed in Switzerland for transmitting top-secret data to Russian military structures. This had been going on for more than five years and was done through the company Kaspersky Lab.

In addition, in June, Polish intelligence services detained a Russian spy, 28-year-old Viktor Z., who is suspected of collecting information for Russian intelligence services.
