Archaeologists in Pompeii have made a new discovery.
Archaeologists in Pompeii have unearthed a rare tiny house. The room was buried under the ash and debris that destroyed Pompeii when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE.
Cbsnews.com reports on this.
The walls and frescoes in the house have been preserved. According to museum officials, it is especially surprising to find such rich decoration in such a small house. The frescoes mostly depict scenes from classical mythology. One well-preserved painting of Hippolytus and Phaedra, two characters from a Greek tragedy, gave the house its temporary name, “Phaedra's House.” Hippolytus and Phaedra also appear in a small painting found elsewhere in the house.
