Apple will look for banned photos from users of its devices

Apple will introduce a new system on its devices to search for prohibited photos, RIA Novosti reports.

Special algorithms will analyze data from phones and tablets to search for child pornography materials and prevent its distribution. If the system detects such content, it will be sent for additional verification to the moderators. If necessary, the identified violations will be reported to law enforcement agencies.

“New technology in iOS and iPadOS will enable Apple to detect known sexual abuse images of minors stored in iCloud. This will allow Apple to report such cases to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which works in collaboration with law enforcement agencies across the United States, ”the company said in a statement.

According to media reports, this will only affect users in the United States so far.

The Financial Times notes that the program was trained on 200,000 images of sex crimes. It is assumed that every snapshot uploaded to the cloud will be checked.

Earlier, Sergey Kuzmenko, a senior specialist in testing digital products of Roskachestvo, told why an old smartphone can cause a fine.
