Apple has given its iPhone factory in India a “trial period” to rectify deficiencies following massive protests over food poisoning and employee working conditions. It is reported by “BBC”.

The factory of the Taiwanese company Foxconn, which employs 17 thousand people, is located in the city of Sriperumbudur in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. It was closed on December 18 when the first cases of food poisoning were recorded. After that, the plant employees went on a massive strike, and Apple's management drew attention to this.

An Apple spokesman on Wednesday December 29 announced an audit of its manufacturing facilities. During the inspection, the commission found that some of the dormitory rooms and workers' canteens did not meet company standards. Foxconn then announced that it is restructuring its local management team to ensure that immediate action is taken to improve conditions.

“We are very sorry for the problem our employees faced and are taking immediate steps to improve conditions,” the company said in a statement.

On December 9, it became known that Apple has reduced the production of new iPhones and iPads at partner factories in Asia due to a lack of components. This may turn into a new deficit: for example, those who ordered smartphones and tablets of the brand will not receive them until the beginning of 2022.

On October 13, the plant of the German company BMW in South Africa stopped car production due to the strike of metallurgists in the country. The workers demanded an immediate eight percent wage increase and additional indexation by two percent in the future.
