Apple at WWDC 2021 on Monday, June 7, unveiled a new version of its operating system for iOS 15 smartphones with many new changes.
Open beta testing of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will start in June of this year 2021, and the release of new versions is expected in September.
The new OS gives the FaceTime chat application a lot of new features. The iPhone was taught to distinguish the speaker's voice, that is, the noise reduction system was significantly improved. In addition, there will be a “Grid” mode for group calls and a portrait mode with a blurred background. FaceTime will be able to work on smartphones from other manufacturers, but only within the web version.
Apple devices now have the ability to view video “picture in picture” thanks to the new SharePlay function. The new operating system will change the logic of notifications: a summary of notifications will appear, allowing the user to concentrate only on the most important, and a special “Focus” feature using artificial intelligence will make it possible to disable distracting applications.
– In iOS 15 there was a function of text recognition through a camera or photo. iPhones will be able to search for objects in pictures. Significant changes will affect the applications “Wallet”, “Weather” and “Maps”, – said during the conference.
New functions have appeared for AirPods: the “Focus” function will be able to highlight the desired voice, and the headset itself can be found through the “Locator”. The company also promised that the surround sound for large AirPods will provide multi-dimensional sound.
Changes came to iPadOS for tablets: with the update, widgets can be freely placed on the entire desktop, multitasking has changed, which has become more flexible and closer in convenience to the desktop macOS.
