The New York Times published an article in which it is reported that Apple, Google and other companies have asked the US government for $ 50 billion. This initiative, as conceived, should help tech giants to keep the prices of their devices.
Large companies have organized a coalition that includes both the manufacturers of intel processors, Nvidia and Qualcomm, and companies that use chips in their gadgets – Apple, Google, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Verizon and AT&T. The association has asked the US government for about $ 50 billion, which is needed to study and expand the production of semiconductors.
The coalition sent a letter to Congress, in which it announced the shortage of semiconductors, while adding that in the long term, the allocation of funds will allow the United States to implement a “resilient supply chain of microcircuits without disruption.”
