Apple employees opposed a new corporate rule that would require them to work from the office at least three days a week. This is reported by The Verge with reference to a letter from employees to the head of the corporation Tim Cook.
The letter says Apple's workflow policy has already forced some employees to write resignations.
“Many of us feel like we have to choose between our families, our well-being, and the ability to do our best work and be part of the Apple team. None of us makes this decision lightly, and many would prefer not to accept it, ”they explained.
Employees emphasized that they were successful in 2020, thanks in large part to the ability to work outside the office and avoid the hassle of daily commuting.
They also drew Cook's attention to the difference in the views of company management and staff on remote work. “Reports that“ many of us want to meet in person with colleagues in the office ”<...> seem dismissive and devaluing. Many of us already feel better connected with our colleagues than ever before, ”said Apple employees.
On June 2, it became known that Cook wrote a letter to Apple employees, in which he noted that in 2020 the company “lacked something significant – each other.” Most employees will be encouraged to work from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and optionally work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays, he noted. Moreover, some teams will have to come to the office four or five days a week.
Tim Cook allowed employees of Apple's global subsidiaries to work remotely due to the spread of the coronavirus in early March 2020.
