Apple discontinues the iMac Pro

Only remnants of the standard model are available from the official Apple store.

Apple will no longer run its iMac Pro. In the official Apple store, only the basic model is currently available for 5,499 euros – “As long as stocks last”. It is no longer available on Amazon. The space gray professional calculator has been available since 2017. It is primarily intended for complex 3D and video editing. Compared to The Verge, Apple confirmed that the iMac Pro will no longer be continued.

The base model has a 27-inch screen that creates 5K resolution. A Xeon processor is installed. This could also be the reason why Apple is taking the computer out of the program. Rumors are currently growing that Apple will introduce new iMacs later this year. These should not only stand out from the previous design, but should also have an Apple processor. similar to the powerful M1 chip with which the Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are already equipped.

iMac as an alternative

If you are still looking for a more powerful variant, you have to ask local dealers. The built-to-order option has been completely removed from the sell page. Alternatively, however, the weaker iMac is still on offer. A 27-inch variant was only presented in August 2020. At Amazon, the iMac currently costs between 1,500 and 2,318 euros, depending on the equipment.
