Apple “buried” the legendary iPod

Apple has officially recognized the seventh generation iPod nano as an obsolete device. This is reported on the support page on the company's website.

The player has appeared on the Apple website in the section of devices for which support is no longer provided. At the same time, the company's partner stores and service centers can continue to maintain and repair outdated devices, if they have the appropriate spare parts. In addition to the seventh generation iPod nano, Apple previously “buried” the fifth generation iPod, 2007 iPod classic, fourth generation iPod shuffle, and third generation iPod touch. The fact that the company recognized the legendary player as obsolete became known in early September.

According to the company's rules, a product that has not been available for sale for more than five or less than seven years is considered obsolete. The seventh generation iPod nano was released in mid-2015. The player received a 2.5-inch touchscreen IPS-screen, 16 gigabytes of internal memory, Bluetooth, a battery that provides up to 30 hours of battery life in audio listening mode.

In August, a network insider revealed a prototype of Apple's first touchscreen player. The iPod touch was supposed to have a glossy finish, but the company's engineers abandoned this solution in favor of a mirrored back panel. The company was criticized for choosing a similar case material due to the fact that the glossy surface was quickly covered with scratches.
