Another “threat to traditional values”: Putin signs laws banning childfree “propaganda”

Along with the criminalization of child abandonment in Russia, citizens of countries where gender reassignment is permitted have now been banned from adopting children.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed three laws that are supposedly aimed at protecting children and “traditional values.” In particular, this concerns a ban on the “propaganda” of refusing to have children and a ban on the adoption of Russian children by foreigners living in countries where gender can be changed.

Meduza reports this with reference to the official legal information portal.

“The first law adds the concept of “refusal to have children” to Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, entitled “Propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences, gender change.” This article provides for fines from 50 to 400 thousand rubles for citizens, from 400 to 800 thousand rubles for officials, and from two to five million for legal entities,” the publication writes.

At the same time, the law made an exception for those who refuses to have children due to religious beliefs, namely monks and blueberries who take a vow of celibacy. The law will not apply to such persons, as well as to the dissemination of information about the monastic way of life.

The second law adds changes to six federal regulatory documents at once. It provides for a ban on the use of information that “promotes” childfree people in films, advertising, the media and the Internet.

The third law, signed by Putin, should exclude any possibility of adoption of Russian children by representatives of the LGBT community. This law amends one of the articles of the Family Code, which prohibits adoptive parents from persons living in countries where gender reassignment is permitted.

In fact, this means a ban on the adoption of children by citizens of NATO member countries, since in the vast majority of cases their change is permitted at the legislative level.

Recall that Russia banned the LGBT movement, declaring it “extremist”. Now Russian courts will be able to deprive a person of freedom simply for participating in the activities of LGBT organizations, messages in their support and the publication of symbols.
