Tokayev dismissed the nephew of ex-president Nazarbayev Abish from the post of first deputy chairman of the KNB

Resignations of relatives of the former president of the republic, Nursultan Nazarbayev, continue in Kazakhstan. On January 17, Elbasy's nephew Abish Samat lost his position in the National Security Committee (KNB), follows from the order of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Dismissed Abish Samat is the son of Nursultan Nazarbayev's younger brother Satybaldy. He worked as the first deputy chairman of the KNB. Samat studied at the Academy of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, and then worked all his life in the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan. During his tenure, he rose to the rank of lieutenant general.
Also in Kazakhstan, the ex-president's sons lost their posts. On January 15, Dimash Dosanov and Kairat Sharipbaev were fired from positions in state-owned companies, and on January 17, Timur Kulibaev voluntarily resigned.
Earlier, Nazarbayev's fellow villagers suggested that Elbasy flew from Kazakhstan to the UAE. The former president visited his native village on January 2-3, and then left for Kyrgyzstan, from where he went to the Emirates, one of them said.
