The authorities of the French department of the Oise decided to close the mosque in the city of Beauvais for propaganda of radical Islamism. This is reported by TASS with reference to AFP.
“The prefect of the Oise department has ordered the closure of the great Beauvais Mosque for six months. This decree will enter into force in 48 hours, ”the regional administration said. The non-profit organization that runs the mosque has promised to challenge the decision of the Oise department in court.
The French Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the imam of the Beauvais mosque incited hatred and a thirst for violence in his parishioners, preaching the idea of jihad. According to the ministry, only about a hundred mosques in France are under the supervision of special services. Over the past year, authorities have closed 20 Muslim religious institutions. In total, there are 2,500 mosques in France.
On October 27, by order of the prefecture of the French department of Sarthe, a mosque in the commune of Allon was closed for the propaganda of terrorism for a period of six months. According to the prefect, the sermons read in this mosque justified an armed jihad, while cultivating a feeling of hatred of France.
