Russian Army General Dmitry Bulgakov, who served as Deputy Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu until September 2022, was arrested in Russia in connection with a corruption case. The court has already chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention and sent him to a pretrial detention center.

The FSB and the Investigative Committee stated that a criminal case of “corruption-related nature” is being investigated against Bulgakov, but the details are not being disclosed.
Russian propaganda media claim that Shoigu's former deputy is suspected of supplying the army with low-quality dry rations at inflated prices. According to investigators, Bulgakov, using his official position, lobbied for the interests of the Gryazinsky Food Plant in the Lipetsk Region.
