Finnish airline Finnair has joined a number of foreign passenger airlines requiring passengers to wear only medical masks on board.
Almost all airlines in the world today require covering their nose and mouth in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus on an airplane, Fox Business reports. But the requirements for masks have become more stringent. If earlier passengers could cover their faces with a variety of types, including any fabric, designer and homemade ones, as well as neckerchiefs or bandanas, now more and more airlines require the use of only medical masks or valveless respirators.
Along with Finnair, only in medical masks or valveless respirators can you board the aircraft of the French airline Air France, Swiss Swissair, Chilean LATAM, German Lufthansa and Croatian Croatia Airlines.
Other major airlines are expected to introduce a similar standard in the near future.
