Another country in the Middle East has approved a Russian vaccine

The UAE is yet another country in the Middle East that has approved the use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. This was reported by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

It is clarified that the drug was registered in the UAE as part of an accelerated procedure after the local Ministry of Health got acquainted with the results of clinical trials of the vaccine in Russia. At the same time, drug trials continue in the Middle Eastern state itself – now they are in the third, final phase.

The head of RDIF Kirill Dmitriev welcomed the approval of the Sputnik V vaccine in the UAE. He noted that Abu Dhabi is one of Moscow's key partners in the Middle East. “The decision to include Sputnik V in the UAE's national vaccine portfolio is an important step in protecting the population with one of the world's best vaccines,” stressed Dmitriev.

Earlier, Hungary was the first in the European Union to approve the Sputnik V vaccine. The Russian drug is also registered in Belarus, Serbia, Argentina, Bolivia, Algeria, Palestine, Venezuela, Paraguay and Turkmenistan.

There are currently several COVID-19 vaccines in the world. Thus, two vaccines are registered in Russia: Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona. On December 5, Moscow started vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik V. The US also began inoculating the population with drugs from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines have been approved in the UK.
