Uruguay has become another country ready to purchase the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Uruguay, Daniel Salinas, according to RIA Novosti.
According to the minister, Uruguay strives to ensure that the Russian drug was in the portfolio of vaccines “because of its good qualities, but we have not received an answer yet.” Salinas added that the necessary documents from Moscow are awaiting in Montevideo. In addition, the Uruguayan side is interested in the possibility of producing Sputnik V, as well as in concluding agreements with Moscow on cooperation in the healthcare sector, in particular, in educational exchanges of specialists.
Earlier, the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V” was registered in Moldova, now the drug can be used in the country. The head of the Republican Socialist Party, Igor Dodon, drew attention to the fact that the vaccine was registered, despite “attempts by the apparatus of the President of Moldova [Maia Sandu] to prevent it.”
Sputnik V is the first registered Russian vaccine against coronavirus, it was created on the basis of another adenovirus in which the coronavirus gene is embedded. When it enters cells, it forms proteins in them – they cause immunity and promote the development of antibodies.
