The prevalence of the delta coronavirus infection strain in Russia is about 70 percent. Such data were provided by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, noting an increase in the spread of this variant of infection.
“According to the results of molecular genetic monitoring, there is an increase in the occurrence of the delta strain from single finds in April, 41 percent in June, to 67.9 percent over the past period of July, that is, today the prevalence is about 70 percent,” said the head of Rospotrebnadzor during a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council under the Government of the Russian Federation to combat the spread of coronavirus.
We will remind, earlier the deputy director for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Alexander Gorelov, said that the “delta” coronavirus strain is three times more infectious than the usual variant of the disease. Shortly before this, the head of the World Health Organization Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus said that the highly infectious strain of the delta coronavirus has been registered in more than 111 countries around the world. Experts believe that in the near future this strain of the disease will become the dominant one in the world.
