An unusual natural phenomenon on the coast in Cyprus hit the pictures and surprised tourists.
So, near the village of Limassol, tourists noticed cruise ships “hovering” over the water surface. Photographer Michalis Michael was able to capture a rare phenomenon.
“Such beautiful mirages are caused by weather conditions, this is the so-called temperature inversion, when cold air is close to the sea, and above it there is warmer air,” explained Michael.
The network explained that this effect is called fata morgana. Such mirages appear when, due to the temperature difference in the lower layers of the atmosphere, several layers of air of different densities are formed.
