Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin.

By 2030, an unmanned air taxi may appear in St. Petersburg. According to the “digital” vice-governor Stanislav Kazarin, the city infrastructure will correspond to new technologies.

He noted that unmanned cargo transportation is already becoming a reality, quite successful experiments have taken place in Europe and Russia. “Today we are building such an infrastructure for the seamless transportation of goods from China to Europe, using the unique geographic location of Russia,” the vice-governor explained (quoted from St. Petersburg Diary)

The goal is maximum convenience for Petersburgers in terms of transport, Kazarin said. “What public transport will be, what requirements will be imposed on the passenger in 2030, what technologies should form the basis for the development of the entire public transport management system – the topic of our discussion,” he said at a briefing in Smolny.

In St. Petersburg and Moscow, it is necessary to organize a network of passenger helicopters to solve the problem of traffic jams and develop the tourism industry. A petition to the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev appeared on the Change.org website back in February. A similar idea was discussed back in August 2019. Then the Russian Helicopters Holding and Yandex.Taxi signed an agreement on the development of an air taxi system in Moscow.
