In Canada, doctors have discovered a new mystical disease. Patients lose their minds, see the dead, begin to twitch involuntarily, lose coordination, bump into objects and experience extraordinary weakness. “Canadian Syndrome” occurs in the province of New Brunswick. Reported by The New York Times.
The disease was first discovered in 2015 when New Brunswick-based neurologist Dr.Alier Marrero examined a patient who had a strange combination of symptoms.
Today the number of cases has increased to 48. Six people have died. Only those people who live in the two coastal areas of New Brunswick are sick.
The symptoms of an unknown disease are rapidly progressive dementia and various psychiatric manifestations. Symptoms include insomnia, motor impairment, and hallucinations such as “nightmares of the dead.” Doctors cannot classify this disease, as each time they face a different set of symptoms.
Among the youngest victims of Canadian Syndrome is 20-year-old Gabrielle Cormier, who was once an excellent student, competed in figure skating and aspired to become a doctor.
She entered university two years ago, but was suddenly overcome by inexplicable fatigue. The girl began to bump into objects, she had visions, they resembled interference on the TV. She could no longer read and attend classrooms, so she was forced to drop out.
The misunderstanding of what had happened increased the horror of the disease. The girl was mistakenly diagnosed with mononucleosis. It was not confirmed. She was eventually referred to a neurologist as her health deteriorated and she experienced involuntary twitching, memory lapses, and hallucinations. She was one of the first to be included in the cluster of patients with an unidentified syndrome.
At the moment, doctors describe the disease as “a neurological syndrome of unknown etiology in New Brunswick.” They suspect that people have been poisoned by neurotoxins, in particular domoic acid, which is found in algae, shellfish and fish.
Many conspiracy theories have already emerged in Canada. Cell towers, hydraulic fracturing (a method of extracting oil, gas, water) and even COVID-19 vaccines are blamed. The medical establishment in Canada is in disarray, and the attention of the world's leading neurologists is riveted on the issue.
“People are alarmed. They ask: “Ecology? Genetics? Fish or venison? Something else? Everyone wants answers, ”said Yvonne Godin, mayor of Betrana, a village in northeastern New Brunswick.
Several residents were injured in this village.
