BBC: Canadian doctor delivers immigrant woman aboard overnight flight to Uganda

Dr. Aisha Khatib from Canada shared her story of giving birth to a Ugandan immigrant on board an overnight flight to Entebbe. The girl went into labor an hour after the plane took off from the city of Doha in Qatar, reports the BBC.
It is noted that she was returning home from Saudi Arabia and was preparing to give birth to her first child. However, the girl began premature contractions at 35 weeks, and they began to look for a doctor on board. Dr. Khatib said that she saw a crowd gathered around the patient and thought that something critical had happened, like a heart attack. “Coming closer, I saw a girl lying on the seat with her feet to the window. The child was already on the way, ”recalls the physician.
She was assisted by two other passengers, an oncology nurse and a pediatrician from Doctors Without Borders. After some time, the baby was born, the passengers of the plane began to applaud. The girl was born healthy and was named Miracle (translated from English as “miracle”) Aisha – in honor of the doctor who delivered the baby.
Earlier, a Russian woman gave birth to a child on a plane flying from St. Petersburg to Namangan (Uzbekistan). An Aeroflot passenger had contractions during the flight. Flight attendants came to the aid of the woman and successfully helped her give birth right on board the liner.
