A powerful explosion has thundered in the center of temporarily occupied Luhansk. The incident occurred near the local history museum, where the opening of an exhibition on the Russian operation “Potok” was taking place. Several casualties and a damaged building are reported.
A building near the epicenter of the explosion was partially destroyed, and windows were broken in neighboring houses. At least three people were injured, 24 Kanal reported, citing Russian media.

The explosion occurred on July 3 on Tarasa Shevchenko Street in temporarily occupied Luhansk. Local Telegram channels reported a powerful “arrival” that started a fire.
The incident occurred near the local history museum, where an exhibition dedicated to Operation Potok was opening at the time. Russian propaganda portrays this operation as a heroic attempt by the occupiers to break through to the rear of the Ukrainian troops through a gas pipeline in the Kursk region. As a result of the explosion, the museum premises were damaged.

According to Russian media, at first they reported one dead and two wounded. Later, the so-called “administration” of Lugansk announced three victims. They also wrote that the bodies of two dead were seen near the explosion site, but there is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Operation Potok took place on March 8, 2025. Russian troops attempted to break into Ukrainian territory through an underground gas pipeline to reach the rear of Ukrainian forces in the Sudzha area of the Kursk region. The operation ended in failure, and Russian troops were destroyed after exiting the pipe. In Russia, this operation is praised as heroism.
