Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Jolie said an explosion occurred at the country's embassy in Nigeria, killing two people.
Reuters reports this.
“We can confirm that there was an explosion at our High Commission in Nigeria. The fire has been extinguished and we are working to shed light on what led to this situation,” Jolie said.
In addition, the Canadian Embassy warns against travel to Nigeria, including the capital Abuja, “due to the unpredictable security situation across the country and the significant risk of terrorism, crime, armed attacks and kidnappings.”
Representatives of the United States and Great Britain were also urged to refrain from traveling to Nigeria.
