Endocrinologist Oksana Mikhaleva, in an interview with Izvestia, revealed three ways to combat a hangover. First of all, it is necessary to restore the deficiency of fluid and minerals in the body, she said.
According to the specialist, when alcohol is consumed, dehydration occurs, so the body tries to remove waste products through the lungs, skin, kidneys, which leads to additional loss of fluid.
“With the liquid, minerals necessary for the body are lost, in particular sodium and potassium. That is why with a hangover you feel weak, dry mouth, thirst and dizziness, so you want to drink and eat salty, “Mikhaleva explained.
In this case, you can use rehydration solutions from the pharmacy or simply drink mineral water, cucumber pickle, low-fat kefir or whey.
Secondly, glucose levels need to be normalized, the doctor added. To do this, you should have a snack with carbohydrates, for example, a sandwich with sweet tea or other low-fat foods – soup, broth, stewed vegetables.
To recuperate, you can take a walk in the fresh air, and a full sleep will completely relieve unpleasant symptoms, Mikhaleva said. But trying to “hangover” with small doses of alcohol is not worth it, as well as taking painkillers.
Earlier, therapist Andrei Kondrakhin called Russians a quick way to get rid of a New Year's hangover. According to him, if it comes to alcohol poisoning, then the next morning you should “start” the body with the help of light food – for example, chicken broth.
