On the evening of Thursday, January 18, residents of the Russian In the city of Stary Oskol, Belgorod region, bright flashes were observed above one of the local electrical substations. There were power outages in some neighborhoods of the city.

Adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Pyotr Andryushchenko, commenting on this incident, said that before the outbreak there was an explosion at the energy facility and the sounds of a drone were heard.
“Old Oskol in the Belgorod region. Sounds of a UAV. Explosion. A substation is on fire. They are preparing to take over the “Blackout” flash mob from Crimea,” he wrote on the social network.
Meanwhile, local authorities claim that there was simply a short circuit at the electrical substation in the locomotive depot of Stary Oskol. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations says that there was no fire at the substation, although the published footage shows heavy smoke.
Recall that earlier a Russian military helicopter “Mi- 8”. While making an emergency landing on the highway, the helicopter broke the electrical wires of the high-voltage line and cut off power to four areas of the region.
