An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 was recorded off the coast of Chile
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale hit the southeast of Chile's Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
It is noted that the epicenter of the tremors was located at 1,482 kilometers from the city of Anga Roa with a population of 3.3 thousand people. The focus of the seismic event lay at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Information about possible destruction and injuries was not reported, the threat of a tsunami was not announced.
Earlier, a series of tremors was recorded in the Sakhalin region.
