An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 hits Iran

Moscow. The 4th of October. INTERFAX.RU – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was recorded in the western part of Iran, reports the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the data of operational processing of the Altai-Sayan branch, the epicenter of the earthquake recorded at 05:39 Moscow time on Monday was 47 km north-east of the city of Mesdzhede-Soleiman, about 185 km from the border with Iraq.

According to the intensity of shaking at the epicenter, the seismic event is assessed as “destructive”.
