An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 hit the coast of Crete in Greece. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to the center, tremors were recorded 75 kilometers south of the city of Heraklion with a population of over 137 thousand people. They took place at about five o'clock in the morning (at eight o'clock Moscow time). It is noted that the source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 68 kilometers.

At the moment, there have been no reports of possible victims of the elements and destruction on the island.

On December 14, it was reported that strong tremors with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred off the coast of Indonesia, the epicenter of the last recorded earthquake was seen 104 kilometers north-west of the city of Maumere, the main focus was at a depth of ten kilometers. The authorities have warned citizens of the possibility of a tsunami.
