An Asian black bear named Yampol, who was rescued by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in October 2022 in Donetsk region, died in a new shelter in Scotland.
This was reported at the Five Sisters Zoo in Scotland.
As noted, a bear that was rescued from shelling in the Donetsk region and transferred to a shelter in Scotland died because it did not survive the anesthesia. It was intended to treat the animal.
“It is with deep sadness that we share heartbreaking news – our beloved Asian black bear Yampol has died. Before moving to his new enclosure, he was given anesthesia to further treat his health problems that the team was worried about. Unfortunately, anesthesia for animals always carries risks. Despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, he could not be revived,โ the message says.
For their part, the bear shelter “White Rock”, where the bear nicknamed Yampol lived for some time after being rescued from Donbass, expressed condolences over his death.
“Yampol-Borya passed away in his new home in distant Scotland. He survived the destruction of the menagerie in Ukraine due to the war twice – in 2014 and 2022. For two years he was surrounded by care, and we We are grateful to everyone for their efforts and love. This is a painful story, but it is about love,โ wrote the shelter staff.
Recall that a resident of the Donetsk region corrected the missile strike on the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and rejoiced at the deaths of the defenders.
