An art gallery with seven thousand cats on display opens in Minsk
An unusual art gallery appeared in Minsk. There are more than seven thousand exhibits in it – and all are dedicated to cats. The uniqueness of the project is that mustache-striped ones with difficult fates also live in the exhibition halls, the correspondent of the MIR 24 TV channel Ksenia Gibezh reports.
“This is a 'cage', a house for a cricket, which is kept there so that it sings and creates comfort at home.”
“Cage” for a cricket, caps for extinguishing candles, a bronze matchbox of the 19th century. Unique household items that few people know about today. On the adjacent shelves – modern paintings, furniture, decor, books. In total – more than 7000 exhibits. Vasily Suprunyuk still remembers the history of everyone.
– At the entrance to the Louvre, where the ticket office is, some souvenirs are sold … And there I bought – no more, no less – a sanitary appliance, a toilet brush … – With a cat? – With a cat!
Vasily Vasilyevich became interested in collecting after 40.Since then, a continuous hunt for interesting items has begun: at flea markets, online auctions, and traveling.
“These were crazy trips. In the sense that I left for Spain, for example, with one suitcase, and returned with three. And with some minus dollars on the account, because you had to pay for the overweight, ”says the collector, founder of the art gallery Vasily Suprunyuk.
For a long time, “cat's wealth” was gathering dust in the closets. Over time, it became clear: unusual exhibits need to be exhibited. Vasily Suprunyuk opened an art gallery. In the vicinity of the porcelain cats, there are live cats.
“Well, my bunny, do you want to come to me again? You are my handsome man, I love you so much, you have become so fat ”.
Now they are proudly called “collection curators”. And more recently, Yasha, Poco and Negro lived on the street. Everyone has their own story of happy salvation.
“The assistant Brigitte Bordeaux came here, she went to the shelters, watched how the animals live. This baby, seeing her, began to break the cage, thrust his paws into it, meow and ask to“ take me away ”. She was just with us the day before, she quickly figured out where to attach it – not to bring it to France, ”explains the collector's wife and collection curator Yelizaveta Suprunyuk.
More and more people wishing to accommodate homeless mustachioed ones. The gallery space is getting smaller. Therefore, Vasily and his wife decided to open their own mini-shelter for cats.
“A trend has begun. People began to bring in, both familiar and unfamiliar. Who is a kitten, who is an adult cat. “Save, help!” Up to the point that once they shoved a kitten in a plastic bag through the window, ”recalls Aleksandra Klimkovich-Sivitskaya, assistant director of the art gallery.
