An American spent a year all alone in a ghost town

by alex

Residents of Texas Brent Underwood and Don Beer bought the abandoned mining town of Cerro Gordo, California, for $ 1.4 million in 2018.

They decided to invest money in order to turn Cerro Gordo into a tourist attraction. According to friends, the dark secrets of the ghost town should act like a magnet for thrill-seekers. There are rumors that murders used to take place here almost every day, but now the city is flooded with ghosts.

Despite the fact that the whole city belongs to two people, they never lived in it, preferring to appear there only occasionally.

In March last year, Underwood came to Cerro Gordo to replace the permanent caretaker, who decided to visit his wife in Arizona.

It was planned that Brent would spend only a week in the abandoned city, but soon a blizzard hit the area and it became impossible to get out of Cerro Gordo, however, as well as to get into it. To survive, he had to melt snow and stretch out a meager food supply.

Surprisingly, when the snow melted and Underwood was able to reach the nearest settlement, he resupplied food and returned back to Cerro Gordo. According to him, he was so used to this strange place that he decided to stay here forever.

In addition, the man is sure that he has already witnessed paranormal phenomena more than once:

– Things move by themselves. For example, I see how the curtains move, I hear something at night, – he said. – There are no drafts, but things in the house are falling.

Brent is also trying to raise money to restore an old hotel that burned down shortly after his arrival in Cerro Gordo, and also shares his research on local abandoned mines on social networks.
