A source in the military-industrial complex said that Russia is planning to create an air defense (air defense) robot based on the Uran-9 strike robotic complex.
According to RIA Novosti, such a robot could be armed with Igla-S or Verba anti-aircraft missiles. Thus, the complex will become a short-range air defense system.
According to the source, such robots could be used in a fully automated mode. This would strengthen the capabilities of the military air defense, namely, in motorized rifle and tank units.
In this case, the main task of the air defense robot would be to combat aircraft and air attack weapons that move at low and extremely low altitudes.
Now the robotic systems “Uran-9” are armed with a 30-mm automatic cannon, anti-tank guided missiles “Attack” and flamethrowers “Shmel”.
