The Security Service of Ukraine stopped the activities of the center of the international terrorist organization Islamic State in Kiev. Weapons and ammunition were seized from the attackers.
According to preliminary information, the center consisted of 12 people. Five of them are citizens of the Russian Federation who are wanted for crimes in different countries of the world. The leader of the group was one of the leaders of ISIS, whom the SBU detained and extradited to Georgia in May 2020.
According to the SBU, the attackers are involved in financing the terrorist activities of Islamic State militants in the Middle East. Law enforcement officers have documented the facts of their correspondence with persons who are in Syria and are participating in hostilities.

To disguise their illegal stay in Kiev, they were dispersed to separate addresses in different parts of the city.
During 11 searches at the locations of the attackers, law enforcement officers found not only weapons and cartridges for them, but also forged documents and communications, which were sent for examination.
Investigators of the SBU opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code – the creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization. It provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years with or without confiscation of property.
