More than two-thirds of Americans believe that US President Donald Trump did not take the threat of coronavirus seriously enough – and this is the reason for his own infection. It is reported by Reuters with reference to a survey conducted with the participation of Ipsos.
65 percent of those polled – 9 in 10 Democratic supporters and 5 in 10 Republicans – agreed with the statement “if President Trump took the coronavirus more seriously, he might not have gotten infected.”
At the same time, just a little more than a third of the survey participants, 34 percent, believed that the head of the American state was voicing the whole truth about the pandemic. More than half of them, 55 percent, believe that he was hiding something, and 11 percent found it difficult to answer this question.
The American leader announced a positive test for coronavirus on October 2. He added that his wife Melania Trump was also diagnosed with the disease. The President promised to immediately begin treatment and quarantine.
