American scientists have discovered the effect of diet on the development of cancer cells
American scientists conducted a study, during which they found that a fasting diet can slow down the development of malignant tumors. The work of specialists is described in an article published in the journal Nature.
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Dana-Farber Institute of Oncology have concluded that a fasting or ketogenic diet affects tumor growth by reducing the amount of substance available. Among other things, experts have found that glucose content does not play a significant role in slowing the growth of cancer.
According to scientists, if the patient adhered to a fasting diet, then there was a decrease in blood glucose and lipid levels, while with a ketogenic diet, it increased. It is known that without lipids, onco cells cannot build their cell membranes, therefore they are forced to engage in the production of these substances themselves. However, patients should maintain a balance between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.
Earlier, scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology came up with a new method of cancer treatment. It is based on a special combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. And before that, endocrinologist, nutritionist Anastasia Tarasko named inexpensive products for weight loss. According to the expert, vegetables of different colors should be included in the daily diet, except for those that contain a lot of starch.
