The accused denies that he killed his relatives.
On Friday, March 3, South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdo was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of wife Mega and son Paul. The sentence does not provide for the right to early release.
It is reported by CNN.
Murdo at the hearing objected that he had killed his relatives. Judge Clifton Newman asked Alex how long he would lie and emphasized that the accused must apologize to his son and wife before falling asleep.
“I know that you should see Paul and Maggie at night when you're trying to sleep. I'm sure they come to you. I'm sure,” said the judge.
“Every night,” Murdo replied.
Lawyers for the defendant said they plan to challenge the decision within 10 days. Previously, Alex Murdo was a successful lawyer himself, until his 52-year-old wife and 22-year-old son were found dead in the grounds of a family-owned dog kennel in 2021. Alex convinced the investigation that he was with his mother that evening, so he could not commit a crime.
However, law enforcement officers found out that Murdo shot his son, and when his wife ran after the shots, he killed her too. Only after that did he get into the car and go to his mother for an alibi, the police established.
A few weeks ago we reported on a shooting at Michigan State University. Three students died in the incident. The suspect fled the scene, shot himself, and later died from his gunshot wound.
