Austria's NFL hope is facing the decisive test match with the Arizona Cardinals
Bernhard Seikovits wants to play for the Cardinals in the NFL
The next few days will be decisive. Bernhard Seikovits is about to become the first Austrian non-kicker in the US professional league NFL. For weeks the 24-year-old from Vienna has been giving full throttle in the Arizona Cardinals training camp to achieve the big goal. The time has come next Tuesday. Then he finds out whether he will get one of the coveted places in the 53-man squad.

Decision is near
Aside from the daily training units, the tight end has the opportunity to put its skills to the test in the preparatory games for the so-called preseason. He's already done two. He got a lot of playing time in the first against the Dallas Cowboys and made a good impression. He was barely allowed on the field against the Kansas City Chiefs. The last test against the New Orleans Saints takes place in the night from Saturday to Sunday. “Seiko” is hoping for more working time again, he knows exactly: “The coaches only have these real game situations in the preseason games before they always have to make the cuts on Tuesdays.”
The selection process is extremely tough, players are removed from the squad every Tuesday. Seikovits has a special position as an “international player” and remains with it until the end. In the worst case, he comes to the Practice Squad and is allowed to train there. And new since this year: If necessary, he can also be pulled up to join the first team. But the 1.96-meter-tall man doesn't think about that, he wants to join the 53-man squad: “My goal is the active roster. That's why of course I want to be on the field in the game to prove myself and to execute my respective task flawlessly. “
