American farmer found on his site a wreck of a Falcon 9 rocket

A Washington state farm owner found a fragment of one of the stages of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched on March 4 on his site, NSN reported.

The fragment of the rocket that left a “four-inch dent” in the soil was found by a farmer last week and called the police. The sergeant who arrived at the scene suggested that it was most likely a wreck of a Falcon 9 that fell after entering space.

SpaceX has confirmed that the part may belong to them, and sent employees to retrieve it.

Local authorities, in turn, said that on March 26, as a result of the destruction of the second stage of the Falcon 9 over Oregon and Washington, a pressure vessel with a composite shell fell.

In September, the ISS was forced to avoid collision with unknown space debris using the engines of the Progress cargo vehicle. The unknown fragment turned out to be a fragment of an exploded stage of a Japanese rocket.
