As Russia disintegrates, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov may yet emerge as a great fighter for independence in the Caucasus. Such a scenario is possible, since the Soviet Union once seemed strong and monolithic.

This was stated by Janusz Bugajski, a political scientist and senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, during a panel discussion entitled “Decolonization of Russia as a Priority of the Defense Democracy Strategy for Ukraine,” which took place at the Ukrinform agency, Channel 24 reports.

What role does Kadyrov play in the collapse of Russia

Thus, Janusz Bugajski is convinced that the collapse of Russia is inevitable. He believes that the economic crisis will lead to increased tensions at the local level – dissatisfaction with Moscow on the part of the regions will also increase. Then they will choose to keep these resources for themselves and not share them with the center.

Bugainsky explains that regional leaders will have to choose between serving Moscow and a career in their home region, as was the case during the collapse of the USSR.

If these processes begin simultaneously in several regions, Moscow will not be able to control and contain all of this. There will not be enough troops or police, the expert said.

According to him, one of the first regional leaders in Russia who will begin an open confrontation with the center could be Ramzan Kadyrov.

Note that earlier the possible economic separation of regions as one of the factors of Russia's collapse was named by the head of the analytical direction of the ANTS network Ilya Neskhodovsky. Also, the support of private military companies and the rupture of the banking system can weaken the aggressor country.
