American air defense systems caught in failure in Iraq

The American C-RAM anti-aircraft cannon systems have failed in their task of protecting the military in the course of repelling an attack on a US airbase in Iraq. The Voenniy Obozrevatel Telegram channel writes about this.

According to the Pentagon, cited by The New York Times, air defense systems at the American base Ain al-Assad were deployed on the morning of March 3 to protect against rocket attacks. Despite this, ten missiles still hit the target and were able to damage the facilities of the base. It was found that the fire was fired from a distance of about eight kilometers from Ain al-Assad. Later, in the vicinity of the base, a burned-out pickup truck was found with a homemade launcher installed on it, from which a blow was struck at the American military.

At the same time, it turned out that the maximum load of the found installation is just ten missiles. Thus, the Military Observer notes, the effectiveness of the attack was 100 percent; based on this, the authors caught the US air defense systems of zero effectiveness in repelling an attack.

At least ten rockets fell in the area of the Ain al-Assad air base in the Iraqi province of Anbar on March 3. The Pentagon said that no one was injured as a result of the strike, while one of the servicemen died of a heart attack. Later, US President Joe Biden noted that the US authorities are currently establishing who is responsible for the attack.

Prior to that, on the night of February 26, the US military launched airstrikes on Syrian territory. Biden personally ordered the attack. As noted, the goal of the US military was the infrastructure of the Iranian-backed militia. The airstrike killed at least 17 people. The Pentagon explained that the strikes were in response to recent attacks against US and coalition representatives in Iraq.
