AMD is gearing up to launch four- and six-core processors based on the Zen 2 architecture. This is an outdated technology since the company announced Zen 3 in 2020.
Three new products will be released – Athlon Gold 4100GE, Ryzen 5 4500 and 4100. The name looks a little strange. AMD used the name Ryzen 3000 for the Zen 2 chips and the Ryzen 5000 for the Zen 3. The Ryzen 4000 name was used for the Zen 2 Renoir APUs, which were designed for the mobile segment. The Athlon Gold 4100GE will no doubt be an APU, but the Ryzen 5 4500 and 4100 should be simple CPUs.
Why AMD is working on these models right now is unclear. However, you should expect them to be cheap.
