Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Alexei Dvinyanin said that the attempt to rape a Russian doctor, who came to the republic as part of a group of doctors to help fight the coronavirus, was not confirmed. RIA Novosti reports.

“I officially declare that no attempt at rape, or even more so the very fact of rape, against Russian doctors (…) has taken place,” the Russian diplomat denied the accusations. He added that this information was confirmed by the hospital staff and the leadership of the presidential administration.

Earlier it was reported that in one of the Abkhaz Telegram channels, information appeared that the deputy head of the Gudauta district administration tried to rape a doctor from Russia. It was noted that the girl allegedly applied to the Russian embassy in Abkhazia, but his press secretary Denis Lavrikov said that they had not received any appeals in connection with such an incident. The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Abkhazia also noted that the law enforcement agencies did not receive a statement about the attempted rape.
