A story about one very successful amateur archaeologist who made a really major discovery appeared on the network. He managed to find a weapon, the age of which can reach 4 thousand years.
It happened in the historic village of Panelia in Finland. It was there that the excavation enthusiast Matti Rintamaa, using a metal detector in the yard of his house, found several pieces of metal of different sizes.
He took pictures of them and sent them to a metal specialist. The specialist said that the objects in the pictures belong to the Bronze Age. To be convinced of his owls, Rintamma turned to the National Council for Antiquities of Finland, writes The History Blog.
Experts working there also confirmed that the artifacts date back to the Bronze Age. They also named their approximate age – from 2 to 4 thousand years.
They also decided to conduct a more detailed professional archaeological examination. As part of it, they managed to find more than 200 objects and 25 daggers and swords – a whole warehouse of ancient weapons.
