Concern “Almaz-Antey” is working on the creation of small-sized anti-aircraft missiles for the destruction of drones, said the general designer of the concern Pavel Sozinov. He noted that mini and micro UAVs can pose a serious threat to military and administrative facilities, and the missiles themselves are extremely cheap.
“Yes, we are developing such missiles, the work is financed by the concern,” Mr. Sozinov answered to a question from RIA Novosti about the company's plans to create inexpensive small-caliber anti-aircraft missiles to destroy mini- and micro-drones.
They can be used for reconnaissance purposes, to target other weapons, or have a warhead capable of causing significant damage under certain circumstances. It is impractical to use anti-aircraft missiles to destroy such air targets, since ammunition can cost much more than the devices that they must shoot down.
