The entire territory of Syria was left without electricity. RIA Novosti reports.
The Ministry of Energy said that electricity was completely lost in the country due to an accident on the line. However, its reasons are not disclosed. At the moment, the authorities are working to ensure that the supply of electricity is resumed.
In August 2020, there was already a blackout in Syria – then it happened due to a terrorist attack on a gas pipeline. As a result, three power plants were temporarily out of order.
In Syria, the civil war continues, which began in March 2011. The main participants in the conflict are government forces supporting President Bashar al-Assad, the so-called moderate opposition and Islamist groups. The opposition is supported by Turkey, Russia is helping the Assad government.
