A massive power outage has occurred in Pakistan. The Dawn newspaper reports.

According to the newspaper, all major cities were left without electricity shortly before midnight on January 10. In particular, there is no electricity in such large cities as Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and Kasu

Federal Energy Minister Omar Ayub tweeted that the outage was due to a sudden drop in frequency in the national distribution system from 50 to zero. The reason for this fall is being investigated. The authorities are trying to launch the Tarbela power plant for a gradual restoration of the power supply.

At the same time, an Energy Department official said on Twitter that the power outage was caused by an accident at the Guddu power plant. In Sangjani and Mardan, the power supply has already been restored.
