In particular, meetings at the level of foreign ministers have been resumed.
President Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that today his country is “closer to peace with Armenia than ever before.”
The Azerbaijani leader said this at the opening ceremony of the XI Global Baku Forum, AZERTAC reports.
According to him, both Baku and Yerevan are now on the threshold of peace.
“Never in the history of the independence of the South Caucasus has peace been as close as it is today. This is the result of the second Karabakh war,” said the President of Azerbaijan.
Aliyev says that Baku is ready to continue the peace process with Yerevan. In particular, the president noted, meetings at the level of foreign ministers of both countries have been resumed.
“We see that peace can be achieved, we want it. We have restored historical justice and international law. It’s time to stop hostility in this region,” Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
Recall that the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh ceased to exist on January 1, 2024. In September, the corresponding decree was signed by the so-called head of the region Samvel Shahramanyan.
This happened after September 19 Baku began “anti-terrorism measures” in Karabakh . However, the very next day the “authorities” of the unrecognized republic announced that Karabakh was ceasing fire and laying down arms, and Azerbaijan was ending “anti-terrorism measures.”
