Russian Trade Representative in Algeria Ivan Nalich in an interview with RIA Novosti said that the country wants to produce the Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus and is currently solving technical issues.
Nalitsch clarified that Algeria is “showing great interest” in production and is now engaged in the technical side of the issue, and the whole process associated with the launch of vaccine production in the country can take from six to nine months, depending on how quickly it is possible to obtain and establish equipment and train specialists.
The Russian trade representative expressed the hope that the pharmaceutical industry of Algeria will be able to set up production of Sputnik V as soon as possible.
The Russian vaccine was registered in Algeria on January 10. The drug was developed by the Russian Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry and became the world's first officially registered vaccine against coronavirus. Later, the Russian Ministry of Health registered another drug – EpiVacCorona, developed by the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor.
