The team player acted in central defense, as he did recently at Bayern. A good 25,000 spectators came to Klagenfurt.
David Alaba has completed the first 45 minutes for his new club Real Madrid. The Viennese, who only started team training a few days ago after a coronavirus infection, played central defense in the first half of the test match against AC Milan in Klagenfurt's Wörthersee Stadium on Sunday. Both teams made numerous changes after the break, the game in front of around 25,000 spectators ended goalless.
“Very positive,” said Alaba after his first appearance in the Real jersey. “It will certainly take a few days and weeks before I fully adapt, but it felt very good,” he said in an interview with ORF television. “I didn't have the trouble to fit in now. It really is a lot of fun working with the guys every day and trying to be successful.”
Bale shot a penalty
Especially in the first half, the Spaniards were overweight and had better opportunities. The best was awarded in the 41st minute by Welshman Gareth Bale, who failed from the penalty spot.
Alaba formed the center-back pairing with Nacho in the first half before he had to make way for Eder Militao. As a left-back, neo-coach Carlo Ancelotti relied on captain Marcelo. Casemiro played in the central defensive midfield, alongside Luka Modric and Isco.
“I've always trained in this position in the last few days and weeks. But I think the coach also knows that I can play several positions. I played under him on the back left in Munich,” Alaba emphasized about his flexibility. He hadn't seen too much of Madrid yet, but there was “very nice weather in any case,” he said with a smile. “I'm still looking for a house a little longer. Step by step I will definitely get to know the city even better.”
